During Maui’s winter (and that word should be in quotation marks when writing it from 10,200 feet as it snows outside on May 8), Honolua Bay lights up with some of the best righthand waves in the world. Alas, during a 10-day visit in 2012, we did not catch any triple-overhead barrels or even the next best thing, which would be double-overhead barrels. We caught it waist-high and rolling instead of heaving. But it was still fun to surf warm water in paradise. Looking at this photo almost made me cry.
