Postcard: World Cup techs at Copper Mountain, CO

On Tuesday, November 19th, at Copper Mountain, Colorado, the highest profile ski racer in the world crashed hard during a training run, putting her World Cup and Olympic season in jeopardy. Four hours after Lindsey Vonn limped off the snow and retreated to her home in Vail for further evaluation, a friend and I strolled through Copper Station at the East Village base area in search of happy-hour nachos. The world was moving forward as usual: young, grinning racers wearing jackets emblazoned with flags from around the world bopped to and fro, and World Cup race techs were hard at work perfecting each ski’s edges and bases in advance of the next morning’s training runs. I took this shot with my smartphone as we peeked inside one of the tune rooms. (Click the image to enlarge.)
