Mountain Gazette Adds Writer Kyle Frost as Contributor and Brings His Exclusive Weekly Newsletter Series “Here & There” Under Mountain Gazette Publishing Title

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, CA ( Jan. 16, 2023) - Mountain Gazette, the independent outdoor culture magazine that has been publishing long-form features and stunning imagery from mountain towns since 1966, is pleased to announce the addition of Kyle Frost to its talented team of contributors and writers. Kyle will bring his unique voice and insight in the outdoor industry to Mountain Gazette’s readers through his exclusive email newsletter series “Here & There.”

Kyle is a digital product designer, writer, and photographer who has worked in and around the outdoor industry for the last decade. He started Here & There in 2020.

“It’s been my goal for Here & There to be a vehicle for more of the kind of discourse I want to see in the outdoor and travel industry. “I always want to respect my readers' time (and intelligence) by digging into complex topics with a measured perspective,” said Kyle, “I think that Mountain Gazette will be a fantastic home for Here & There – MG is dedicated to quality. They respect their readers, and cater to an audience that enjoys nuance, interesting conversations, and occasional surprises when it comes to storytelling.”

Here & There promises to be a meaningful addition to Mountain Gazette’s regular weekly newsletters. Subscribers can look forward to nuance, questions, and complexity delivered every Thursday. Here & There has previously covered topics like the details of the $1T recreation economy, how Rec.gov actually works, and why “Airbnb for gear” startups never work. You can also expect perspectives on the people, brands, gear, and places that shape outdoor and travel culture.

“There are so many ways to become a great writer today,” said Mike Rogge, Mountain Gazette Editor. None more valuable to me than actual readers forwarding, texting, and sharing links and photos. Kyle’s writing hits the mark. His work is thoughtful and nuanced. We don’t measure success based on analytics, but actually people, human beings, being affected by work. Here & There has been a regular read for Mountain Gazette readers tangentially and we look forward to sharing his writing more widely and directly in 2024.”

The first edition of Here & There published under the Mountain Gazette title will be available on Thursday, January 18th to current email subscribers.

"Here & There takes on bigger issues from a perspective that feels relatable. It's a great newsletter about unique topics in the outdoor space...that isn't constantly trying to sell me a jacket"

"I know I'll end up captivated by something I didn't know existed, or be more well-informed on something topical. Plus, having a light sprinkling of travel eye-candy always helps."

"I haven't seen a story titled 'Best Can openers of 2023', or anything similar, so that's a plus"
